Matteo Berrettini made an appearance at the Met Gala looking dapper in a Black tuxedo but his fans were not very amused with it. Australian Open’s official Instagram posted a picture of the Italian on the red carpet at the Met Gala. Matteo’s girlfriend Melissa Satta was not present at the event.

Matteo Berrettini who is a BOSS brand ambassador, wore a Black BOSS suit to the event. Berrettini had appeared at the Met Gala 2021 too with his girlfriend at that time, Australian tennis player Ajla Tomljanović.

Matteo Berrettini is known for his great looks and is considered one of the most good-looking tennis players. No wonder he has been invited to the high profile event for 2 years. Berrettini is currently injured and recovering. He had to miss the ongoing Madrid Open too due to his injury. But when fans saw their favorite Italian tennis player on the red carpet they voiced that the player should be focusing on his return to the court, rather than walking the red carpet at a high-profile event.

Matteo Berrettini usually gets a lot of hate on social media for his inconsistent form, or for focusing on his girlfriend. But this time his fans made some stinker comments about the Italian attending a fashion event. Some of them hinted that he is better off as a model than being a tennis player.

A fan took a spin on Australian Open’s caption on the picture and wrote that Berrettini “Should try to bring some to the court“. Another fan compared him to the young generation of players Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, and Jannik Sinner. The fan wrote, “Focus on your game!!! Alcaraz Rune and Sinner would NEVER!!!“

Recently retired tennis legend Roger Federer was the co-host of the event. A few fans pointed out that Matteo Berrettini and Federer are incomparable and the Italian is not really a celebrity. “He isn’t Roger to be invited everywhere, they want to make celebrities out of tennis players so bad but with the thing that some of them are not great tennisers“, said an angry fan. One fan thinks that Berrettini’s good looks make him a better model than a tennis player. “Better in the runways than the courts,” they wrote.

Despite the mockery, there was some support from fans who thought he had every right to be there.
