The kind of season Carlos Alcaraz is having, the last thing one would expect is a loss. He has been almost invincible on the Tour in the last 24 months. Winning multiple events including a Grand Slam, he has just been the talk of the town.
However the unpredictability of sport spares none. It has happened, Carlos Alcaraz has been knocked out in the round of 32. A shocker for the Spaniard who has repeatedly made it to finals.
The World no. 2 lost to Fabian Marozsan in straight sets 6-3 7-6. An early exit for a no. 2 player isn’t really something that’s never happened before. But a loss of this kind would worry a few Alcaraz fans. He lost to a player outside the top 100. The fact that he couldn’t even take a set was really an out of the blue result. Carlos Alcaraz was coming off a win in Madrid and was looking more than confident to have a deep run in Rome too. He thrashed Albert Ramos Vinolas in straight sets 6-4 6-1 in the previous round. The odds were certainly in his favor.
On the other hand Marozsan has done the long walk. He played the qualifiers and then made it to the main draw. He played two tough three set matches in his first two games. So taking a set against Alcaraz was itself a big task let alone winning the entire match. However he stayed focused and toppled the World no. 2. His next opponent is 15th seed Borna Coric who will present a tough challenge.
Fans troll Alcaraz heavily after his rare early exit

The loss has got the tennis world talking. Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic fans have constantly been criticizing Alcaraz after the match. They are making it so clear that Alcaraz is far away from the greats and a few wins on the tour should not make him reach the same platform as the two legends on the tour. Have a look at the tweets-
The path for Alcaraz is very clear. He needs to put this loss aside and focus on the upcoming French Open. He should try and remember the good moments of the season and translate it into action by having a deep run in Paris and hopefully being crowned champion.
