World No. 5 and one of the biggest title favourites at the 2022 US Open, Ons Jabeur has reached New York and has started practising for the final Grand Slam of the season still hunting for her first career major. Jabeur came close at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships but had to settle for the runners-up trophy at the All-England Club.

Jabeur will be making her 10th US Open appearance this season. Of the previous 9 appearances, 6 were in the main-draw while on the other 3 occasions, she failed to move past the qualifiers. She has failed to cross the 3rd round mark for the last 3 consecutive seasons but can hope for finally breaking the streak this year given she has been in great form this season.

During a discussion with the media team, Jabeur was asked to pick her dream session on the Arthur Ashe stadium, the Center Court of the US Open. Each player was asked to pick an opponent and a couple of celebrities to watch from the stands as the Grand Slam is quite famous for movie stars coming in to catch some of the finest tennis action. Jabeur had her choices quite clear, she picked Serena Williams, her doubles partner before the Wimbledon, as her opponent while naming rapper Eminem and actress Jennifer Aniston as the celebrities.

“That’s an obvious question. I mean, everybody will answer Serena Williams. You know, she’s my partner so I thought maybe we could switch sides a little bit, but it will be amazing to play her there. Celebrity, they have never invited Eminem there so hopefully, they would. And maybe Jennifer Aniston, if she can come,” said Jabeur.

Jabeur’s form coming into the Grand Slam has been a little worrisome as she reached only 1 quarter-final during the US Open Leg Series. She started in San Jose where she lost to Veronika Kudermetova in the quarter-finals followed by an injury withdrawal mid-match against Qinwen Zheng in the Canadian Open. Her final appearance before the US Open came in the Cincinnati Open, she lost in 3-sets to eventual runner-up Petra Kvitova in the third round.
