“That’s been my reality” Novak Djokovic expects the worst crowd ahead of his Wimbledon finals showdown against Nick Kyrgios

Novak Djokovic
3-time defending champion Novak Djokovic is in the finals of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships as he sets eyes on his 4th consecutive title at the All-England Club. He has won the Championships 6 times so far and a win in Sunday’s finals will take him at par with Pete Sampras on 7 Wimbledon titles while earning him his 21st career Grand Slam title.
Djokovic was up against local lad Cameron Norrie in the semi-finals and despite losing the first set, the Serb made a brilliant comeback to win the match 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 and register his 27th consecutive win of the tournament. The World No. 3 also broke Roger Federer‘s record of reaching the most Grand Slam finals as he is now in his 32nd career Grand Slam final, 1 more than the Swiss Maestro and has the chance to take the lead over Roger in the most Grand Slam titles won.
“We know how dangerous Nick Kyrgios is”: Novak Djokovic

With the win, Novak will now take on Nick Kyrgios in the finals with the Australian making his way to a maiden Grand Slam final after Rafael Nadal had to hand a walkover due to a 7millimeter tear in one of his abdominal muscles. Kyrgios had a good preparation on grass reaching back-to-back semi-finals prior to Wimbledon and looks focused on winning his first silverware since 2019.
“Kyrgios never reached Slam finals, but between us players, we know how dangerous he is, particularly on grass. He is very confident on the court and looks to be mentally in a much better place than compared to a few years ago. As a tennis fan, I am glad he is in the Finals. It’s always a goal to get to the championship match, particularly at Slams. Nerves were kicking off for both of us at the start, he (Norrie) handled them better.
“He was the better player for a set and a half. I played three solid sets. I am aware of what’s on the line at every Slam I play. I don’t know how many more opportunities will I get. I don’t know how the crowd is gonna be, I am ready for the worst. I am always ready for the worst because that has been my reality all this time,” said Djokovic in his post-match press conference.
