Canadian ace Felix Auger-Aliassime notched up a monumental win against Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic in the Round of 16 of the 2022 Swiss Indoors to reach his third consecutive tour quarterfinal. He hammered Kecmanovic in straight sets 6-1,6-0 in what he termed to be the best match of his career.

He served flawlessly and didn’t miss many shots. He won over 90% of the first-serve points, converted 5 out of the 7 break points he got, didn’t face even 1 breakpoint, and just lost 20 points throughout the match. He fired 12 faces throughout the match and just dropped 1 game as he served a bagel and breadstick to Kecmanovic.

In the post-match interview, Felix was overwhelmed by his level and said that it is tough for him to play any better than that. He claimed that this was the best match he has ever played- not only in his career but also since his childhood days. “Honestly it’s tough to play better than that from my part,” Auger-Aliassime said. “For sure the best match I’ve played in my whole life -not my career – since I’m a little kid.”

Felix has been in amazing form for the last 3 weeks. He won the Firenze Open 2 weeks back and backed it up with a strong title triumph at Antwerp. To put things into perspective, Felix had only 1 career title to his name and within the span of 2 weeks, he won back-to-back titles to make it 3.

This week in Basel, he had beaten Marc-Andrea Huesler and Miomir Kecmanovic and is now on a 10-match winning streak for the first time in his career. He will now face Alexander Bublik in the quarterfinal in which he will once again enter as the favorite.
