Former World No. 1 and 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer continues to remain on the sidelines for more than a year since his quarter-final exit from the 2021 Wimbledon Championships where he lost in straight-sets to Hubert Hurkacz. Federer had injured his knee there and had to undergo surgery in order to be able to lead a normal life after his retirement.

Federer was on crutches for a small period before he was back on his feet and started light training. Having already confirmed his plan to play in the upcoming 2022 Laver Cup and then at the 2022 Swiss Indoors, Roger’s return to tennis courts is much awaited by the fans of not only him but also the sport. Federer however has made an early return surprising everyone.

Ahead of the 7th Day at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, Roger was seen making his way into the All-England Club with the Grand Slam celebrating its Centenary year of play at the historic Club. Given Federer is an 8-time Men’s singles champion, a record that is not matched by any man and bettered only by the legendary Martina Navratilova‘s 9 titles, an invite to him for the special celebration was expected and the Swiss accepted the invitation making a grand appearance at the famous venue.
