“The King is back”-Tennis Twitter erupts as Rafael Nadal confirms to play in Paris and Turin

Rafael Nadal
Legendary player Rafael Nadal took the tennis community by storm as he confirmed to play in ATP-1000 Paris Masters and ATP Tour Finals Turin making Tennis Twitter alive again. As per the reports making rounds on the internet, the 22-time Grand Slam champion is all set to participate in both events for this year, two competitions he has never been able to bang to date.
As expected, as soon as the news was made public, several fans, followers, and viewers rushed to Twitter to provide their take on the announcement, with the majority of viewers celebrating the ultimate comeback. The celebration comes into play because initially most of the fans were expecting Nadal not to play after the loss in the last 16 of the US Open due to an abdomen injury that was sustained during Wimbledon and never got healed fully.
That’s not all, he and his wife Maria recently became parents for the very first time and viewers expected him to take the necessary break to spend some quality time with his family and the newborn baby that came into their life a few weeks ago.
Judging by the tweets, while some of them questioned Djokovic fans who were saying Nadal will skip the rest of the season fearing the Serbian, the majority of the fans were on cloud nine as the news was confirmed. “It was like ages have passed (since Nadal Played)”, One Nadal fan wrote emotionally. Some of them called it “amazing news” and a few ‘GOAT debate’ obsessed fans opined that “The Real GOAT is back on the court”.
Rafael Nadal’s chances of finishing the year as World No.1

Indoor Hard-court season is that part of the season when Rafael Nadal usually doesn’t like playing much as he has already told that winning majors will be his most important goal from now on. Paris Masters is 1 of the 2 ATP-1000 masters tournaments that Nadal has never won in his career along with the Miami Masters.
Nadal reached the final once here in Paris Master way back in 2007 but lost to David Nalbandian. He reached the semi-finals in both of his previous appearances here in 2019 and 2020. As current World No.1, Carlos Alcaraz lost earlier in the Astana Open, Nadal is just 930 points behind him.
Official ATP ranking as of Oct 24, 2022: 2 (Points 5810)
Current position in ATP race:2 (Points 5810)
Total points defending till 2022 : 0
As Rafa has decided to play Paris Masters 1000 and ATP Tour finals Turin, he has a significant possibility of bagging the year-end world No.1 crown for the 6th time in his career (equalling Pete Sampras and 1 behind Novak Djokovic). Each round wins in either of these tournaments can only gain him points as he has not played both these tournaments last year due to a foot injury.
Irrespective of this, Rafael Nadal and his fans have had a remarkable 2022– the year of redemption by winning the Australian Open after 13 years followed by the record 14th title in Roland Garros.
