Novak Djokovic, the 21-time Grand Slam champion, is having the best time in his career after the Wimbledon 2022 triumph. He received a grand and warm welcome back home after the win. However, he is back in the news as his participation at the US Open 2022 is still in doubt due to his ‘unvaccinated status’ and he has no intention of getting the vaccination anytime soon. It might not be a wise decision for him owing to the fact that US Open is about to start soon.

The US Government has issued rules that they will not allow any players without taking the vaccination and there will be no exemption for anyone in any circumstances. Djokovic’s stance on not taking the vaccine might cost him missing the tournament and this has upset many of his fans. They want to see the champion play again at the US Open this year since he was allowed to play last year and he had lost to Daniil Medvedev in the finals.

Novak Djokovic has been receiving a lot of support from around the world with many wishing that he is given an exemption by the US Government and he is allowed to enter the country to participate at the US Open in contention for his 22nd singles Grand Slam title. Many consider it an illogical and baseless decision to not allow him to play.

After Richard Grenell, American Acting Director of National Intelligence asked the American Government to allow one of the best players the chance to play, Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson joined the list stating that “vaccines do not prevent infection and transmission. The mandates are pointless and idiotic.” He even stated that their decision for not to allow the Serbian to participate this year is a really stupid idea.
