Novak Djokovic, the 35-year-old won his 21st Grand Slam title recently after defeating Nick Kyrgios in the finals of the 2022 Wimbledon by  4-6, 6-3, 6-4 7-6. The title win was his 7th Wimbledon title in total and his fourth in a row as he continues his dominance on the grass court.

Djokovic has recently been under a lot of limelight due to his Covid-19 vaccination status which has caused him to miss many tournaments in the past and the situation seems to be the same with the US Open, if the rules aren’t changed or an exemption isn’t provided then Djokovic will be missing National Bank Open in Montreal, the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, and the US Open.

Grenell took to Twitter to express his concerns and tweeted, “Let @DjokerNole (Djokovic) play in the @usopen! The U.S. Open cheapens itself when it bans one of the best players in the world,” among the many tournaments that Djokovic has had to miss due to his vaccination status, the Indian Wells Masters as well as the Miami Open in March are included as well.

Leaving the fans and the media in splits, some consider Djokovic taking a stand for what he believes in to be an inspirational thing. At the same time, some criticize him for not taking the vaccine as he is an inspiration to millions around the world.
