We saw Novak Djokovic, Elina Svitolina, and Billie Jean King oppose Wimbledon’s ruling of banning Russian players. Now we have another new player who disagrees with the Wimbledon rule. Alexander Zverev is the new tennis star who opposes the rule. The German player who is Russian-born feels that there is no reason why Russian and Belarusian players should not play.

What is happening in Ukraine is inhuman: Alexander Zverev

Alexander Zverev is a German citizen who is born to Russian parents. He said that he could not see why the players should not be allowed to play and that he understands there’s a war but that was no reason why they shouldn’t be allowed to play.

He further adds, that fellow tennis player Andrey Rublev is also ready to help the Ukrainians and is ready to contribute his earnings to the refugees.

When asked about his stance, Zverev said, “There is no reason that Russian and Belarusian players cannot participate in Wimbledon. It’s something against Russia, I understand that. I think we are all against the war, what is happening in Ukraine is inhumane and should not happen. I spoke to Andrey Rublev and he is also ready to help Ukraine. He is ready to oppose the war, he is ready to send the money from his earnings to Ukraine.

Zvererv recently played the Monte Carlo Masters where he made it to the semifinals before losing to eventual champion Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets 6-4,6-2.

Here is another player who opposes Wimbledon’s ruling. A lot of tennis players are not happy with the idea of world-class players not playing, and even fans agree the same. Let’s hope that they will at least attempt to remove the ban. What do you all think? Will they lift the ban after all?
