World No. 40 Nick Kyrgios is into the finals of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships and is one win away from winning his first-ever Grand Slam title. The Australian will be taking on 3-time defending champion and 6-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic in the finals who will be looking for his 21st career Grand Slam title in Sunday’s finals.

Nick has however been the talk of the town this year as much as any other player due to the performances and drama that he has been involved in. The Australian has won two 5-setters so far and has also paid $14,000 in fines while also receiving summons for a court hearing back home in Australia related to the sexual-assault charges levied on him by his former girlfriend Chiara Passari. Despite his demons coming for him, he has been brilliant on the court and is eyeing his first singles major.

Kyrgios is no stranger to criticism by fans, media and former players. The Australian’s candid behaviour does not get liked by everyone and often lands him in trouble for it. This time, however, it was not Nick but the 2021 US Open champ and British No. 1 Emma Raducanu who faced flak from media and others for supporting Kyrgios after his quarter-final win. Emma had tweeted ‘NK’ with a magician’s wand and while Nick was polite to thank her, many others questioned her decision to show support towards Nick, dubbed as the ‘bad boy of tennis.’

“I feel like I’ve kind of stuck up for her a bit in the media with some of the stuff that older legends kind of love to just throw shade and have their opinions on young players, young important players. She’s obviously going to be one of the most important players on the WTA Tour for a very long time.

“She’s obviously capable of winning a Grand Slam at 18. She’s very capable of doing that again. I enjoy watching her tennis, as well. But I think that was just a bit of a payback for how much I’ve kind of stuck up for her in the media,” said Kyrgios hitting out on Raducanu’s critics in comments reported by Mirror UK.
