Andy Murray, the 35-years-old British great called out Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal after his first-round victory at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships against Sam Querrey. Having won 3 Grand Slam titles in his career, Murray blamed the class of the ‘big 3’ that he was not able to win more major titles.

Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal are arguably the three best players in Tennis history having 63 Grand Slam titles between them. Federer (20 titles), Djokovic (21 titles), and Nadal (22 titles) have been dominating the Grand Slams for years with the latest title coming from Djokovic’s victory against Nick Kyrgios in the 2022 Wimbledon finals.

”The three guys ahead of me are quite good,” Andy Murray talks about the skill disparity between the big 3 and the rest of the world

Commenting on Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal after his victory at Newport, Andy Murray said, “Unfortunately, I have been playing in a time where the three guys ahead of me are quite good, between them, they have got 63 Slams, so it’s not been easy to win those sort of events.”

Murray further commented that it has not been easy to win more Grand Slams when playing in the same era as the ‘Big 3’, despite winning 3 major titles in the form of two Wimbledon titles (2013, 2016) and one US Open title (2012) reaching 11 major finals during that time. He added “Obviously, as a 19-year-old, it would have been my dream to win a tournament like Wimbledon and get to No. 1 in the world and these things. When I was a kid, I never would have expected to do that.”

The dominance of Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic has been humungous for the past decade, and winning a Grand Slam from them is a near-impossible task keeping the consistency and the class of the three players in mind.
