Iga Swiatek has been riding on a high with a successful 2022 season where she claimed the top spot in the rankings. But she did the unthinkable in the finals of the San Diego Open showing an act of unethical spirit of sportsmanship. The Polish had gone up to the net and waved both her arms in order to distract Donna Vekic to complete the rally.

The World No 1 issued a statement on her social status justifying her antics. She regretted her actions while blaming them as an involuntary actions. She called it a stressful reaction and also accepted her mistake of failing to control her emotions. She even hoped not to repeat such actions in the future as she is working to handle such crunch moments.

This is not the first time the US Open champion has done something of this sort and tried ways to distract her opponent. A similar incident had happened even during the US Open when Swiatek did something of this sort to distract her opponent in the third-round clash.

The 2022 US Open champion has maintained her top spot for 30 weeks. She has won 2 Grand Slams titles along with six other WTA titles. She has been a formidable player throughout the year dominating the WTA Tour. But her constant unethical acts have been highly criticized and faced the brunt of the anger of people all over the world.

While some even noted the fact that she might next take up mental health next if needed to defend her actions.
