Former British professional tennis player Tim Henman dismisses Andy Murray‘s retirement rumor that has been making the rounds on the internet. He also urged Murray to keep going as long as he wants and as long as he enjoys it. For the uninitiated, Murray has truly established himself in the sport with a plethora of laurels to his name. Tennis fans also regard him as a quarter of the ‘Big-4’ along with veteran players like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal.

He said, “He’s still out there competing and playing because he loves it. Being a professional athlete in my opinion is the best job in the world. And he should, and has earnt the right to, do it as long as he wants.”

The Scot has had to go on the operating table multiple times in the past few years to deal with his hip pain. “And if I had had to predict the way that his recovery and comeback from hip surgery would have been, I would have got it totally wrong. Because I would have said that his tennis will always be there and he will always play great, but his movement would have been so restricted that he wouldn’t have been able to compete,” said Henman while referring to the setbacks Murray would face on the road to recovery.

Following the Wimbledon face-off between none other than Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, Henman revealed that the number of players who were capable of playing their best game on grass was very small. However, he also said that this is not the case when it comes to hard courts.

“I would sign up for another Alcaraz versus Djokovic final right now, but I don’t think it will be a shoot-out between those two,” said Tim Henman during a broadcast. He admitted that there were a lot more players on tour who were highly capable of being tough opponents on the hard courts.

He also established that, despite the Wimbledon victory by the young Spaniard, the Serb is indeed the player to beat at the US Open. “His record and experience are incredible, but it is great that we are in the early stages of a new rivalry,” said Henman, referring to the achievements of Alcaraz in the last couple of years.
