American tennis professional Serena Williams took the Internet by storm after announcing her retirement from professional tennis. However, despite announcing her retirement, the media is hot with speculations and rumors of a possible and iconic return of the American tennis legend to professional tennis.

That’s not all, the 23-time Grand Slam champion herself has from time to time talked about her possible come back into professional tennis in multiple interviews, much to the delight of her viewers and fans. When talked about the NFL star Tom Brady, who came back after retiring from the sport, in The Tonight Show with Jimmy Falon, Williams gave a teasing answer.

“Tom Brady started an amazing trend. That’s what I want to say,” she said.

In a rather interesting turn of events, Former German tennis player Tommy Haas has fanned the speculations with his latest comments. He thinks that Serena Williams can make a return to the sport.

“Serena had an incredible, long, and strong career. But I have the feeling that she is going to come back and say, ‘I’m going to play one more time’. She came so close to playing really well again and going far. So I think deep down it really annoys her,” he said in an interview given to Eurosport.

However, he also thinks that it would all depend upon her physical and mental well-being and if she is actually ready to take on the challenge yet again. The German professional even went on to talk about her responsibilities as a mother and if she is willing to “torture” herself again.

“She might really be thinking about whether she wants to try again. I may be wrong because I’m not that close [to her]. It will mostly depend on how it looks mentally, how she feels physically, and whether she has the desire to torture herself like that again after achieving so much. Serena also does a lot of things off the court and is a mother,” Continuing his train of thoughts, he further added.

If Serena Williams returns to professional tennis after retirement, she will be included in the illustrious list of some of the most prominent players, including the likes of Bjorn Borg, Kim Clijsters, and Martina Hingis, amongst others who have returned to the sport even after announcing their official retirement.

Former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki recently got featured in the Tennis Channel’s ‘Honoring Legends’ show, along with Andy Roddick, which is celebrating the legacy of recent retirees Serena Williams and Roger Federer. When she was asked about the American tennis legend’s possible comeback, she answered a bit differently from Tommy Haas.

“I don’t think so. If she plays an exhibition I think that would be lucky but I don’t see her back playing on tour. There are just so many things going on. I think she loves the game so much and it’s been her life for so many years. But at the same time, she is busy. I don’t think we will see her on a professional tennis court again,” she explained.

Speculations are high on what Serena Williams is going to do in near future. However, her fans and viewers will be extremely thrilled if she decides to make a comeback to the sport.
