American tennis star Tommy Paul beat Marcos Giron to win the Dallas Open 2024. Currently ranked 15th in the world, Paul won his first ATP title in 2021 at Stockholm, and this is his second career title. Though, Paul performed quite well last year as he reached the finals of a couple of tournaments in Acapulco and Eastbourne but couldn’t capitalize in the finals.
In an interview with the Dallas Press, Paul was asked about his career goals for 2024. He revealed:
I think we’re all pretty aware of our rankings and where we sit in the American race. But I don’t like…, all of our goals are to win tournaments and get in the Top 10 or get in the Top 5 or win big tournaments. I mean that’s the goal for me. I’m not speaking for everybody. But for me, the goal is not to be ahead of Ben, or not to be ahead of Tiafoe. It’s to be at the top of the game, be up there playing those guys in the finals of the biggest tournaments. That’s the biggest thing for me.
Various top players from the American tennis circuit participated in the tournament. However, the 2023 Australian Open semifinalist beat the likes of Ben Shelton and Toro Daniel on his path to the title.

The American entered the tournament as the second seed. Beating an in-form and resilient Ben Shelton in the semis, Paul reached the finals. The World No.15 stepped up big time to earn a win against Giron in three sets. Both the players had not dropped a set in their road to the finals of the tournament.
Paul started off the match well with a win in the first set in the tiebreakers. However, Giron came back strongly to clinch the second set.
Paul started off the deciding set with a serve. And taking advantage of the faults from Giron, the 26-year-old cinched the set and the match.
