She also became the first Italian woman to win a grand slam. She made it to the finals next year too but she lost to Li Na and had to settle for the runners-up trophy.

Steffi Graf the German Professional tennis player of her time was one of the finest players of the game. She won 22 major titles in her career of which 6 were French Open titles. She was 29 years and 356 days old when she won the 1999 French Open, her last French Open title making her one of the oldest women to win the title.
Margaret Court

Margaret Court was one of the best players of all time. She won 24 singles major titles in her entire career, a record yet to be matched. She won the French Open 6 times and her final title in Paris came when she was 30 years and 321 days old. She came from a set down to claim the trophy playing in the 1973 French Open final against Chris Evert as she claimed her second ‘Double’ at the major having won the Women’s Doubles title as well that year.

Chris Evert was the former world number one. She won 18 singles major titles in her entire career. She won the French Open 7 times. She was also the best clay-court player of her time. She was 31 years and 168 days old when she won her last french open title against Martina Navratilova in the 1986 French Open.
Serena Williams

Serena Williams has won 3 French Open titles in her career even when clay was her weakest surface. She has won 23 singles major titles and is looking to improve her record to Margaret. She was 33 years and 253 days old when she last won the French Open. Making her the oldest player to win the Roland Garros. Serena won against Lucie Safarova in the finals of the 2015 French Open.
