Rafael Nadal, Steffi Graf and Roger Federer

It takes a lot of hard work to win a Grand Slam. However, earning at an early age, when athletes are still developing, is much more noteworthy. They get a lot of status and dignity by winning the Grand Slam, which only helps their career. Here are the top five players who have won the most matches at Roland Garros.

#5. Roger Federer

Clay is not an easy surface to play as Roger Federer realized when he won his first French Open Grand Slam only five years later than the other Grand Slams on other surfaces. The Swiss has an impressive record of 70 wins and only 17 losses with that including four finals and three semi-finals. The fact that Federer is fifth on the list is impressive considering the fact that clay courts are not his best surface and it is Wimbledon where he shines. Still he has managed to make it to the list.

#4&3. Chris Evert and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario

The two players who tied and made it to the list having 72 wins; 72-6 and 72-13 records, respectively are the top players American Chris evert and Spanish player Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario. The American also has the most French Open titles in women’s tennis with the achievement of 7 Grand Slams and the Spanish player has won the title 3 times. But the possibility of Evert being the only one in the top 3 or even higher would have been possible had it not been for the fact that she had not missed the three years in her prime time competing in World Team Tennis.

Do we have to say more? The German player had been the second most successful player with the most Grand Slams until Serena Williams beat her to the second place. Her record of 84-10 is one of the most impressive figures we have seen and therefore it’s no wonder that she had one of the hardest records to beat. She holds the record for most wins at Roland Garros by a female tennis player.

#1. Rafael Nadal

Of course, it goes without saying that The King of clay would be the one to win the maximum number of wins in Roland Garros. The Spaniard has an impressive record of 105-2 win-loss record and has won the title 13 times. Not only the French Open, Nadal holds the record for most wins at a single slam by any player in tennis history.
