With the US Open in full swing, there have been a lot of events that have caught the public eye. Serena Williams’s imminent retirement was the talk of the town recently as the 40-year-old American professional announced that she would be calling it quits after competing at the US Open.

Novak Djokovic’s exemption from the tournament was yet another topic but the highlight right now was a reported arrest outside the Billie Jean King National Center as there were reports of a man trying to enter the US Open whilst being armed when he was chased to the parking lot by the authorities.

Reports of an alleged arrest at the US Open stirs up controversy

With Serena Williams‘ retirement and Novak Djokovic’s ban from entering into the US, there have been new reports of a man being arrested as he tried to enter the Billie Jean King National Center yesterday. The man, identified as Ricardo Bentacur is 23 years old and he was arrested in the parking lot with a gun.

The authorities confronted the man as he was going through security and that is when he pulled the weapon down and ran down to the parking lot where he got in a car with another person but he was caught by the police but the other guy escaped, Bentacur is facing charges of criminal possession of a weapon and drug charges, the driver is still being sought after.

These incidents give rise to the problems of gun laws in the USA, more and more people are found carrying weapons which has been a concerning issue for a long time in the country, many people took to Twitter to ask the same question regarding gun laws and these incidents just add fuel to the fire that is already very huge.

Authorities will continue the search for the driver whilst Bentacur faces his respective charges but such incidents induldge a sense of fear and insecurity among fans.
