“Truly incredible shamelessness” Tennis fans absolutely gutted on finding Novak Djokovic not allowed to play at the US Open Fan Week

Novak Djokovic, the former World No 1 and the 21-time Grand Slam champion, has struggled since the start of the year over his presence at the major tournaments as well as in other tournaments over his ‘unvaccinated’ status. He was deported from the Australian Open in 2022 for being unvaccinated which hampered his performance at the French Open. He is still unsure about his participation at the US Open 2022 as he is still firm on his stance of not being vaccinated.

The Serbian clinched the 2022 Wimbledon Championship singles title by defeating Nick Kyrgios in his maiden singles final in four sets. It was his 7th Wimbledon title and 4th consecutive win at the SW19. He is just one behind Rafael Nadal who has the most number of men’s singles titles in the Open era. He registered his 1000th career win at the Italian Open where he defeated Casper Ruud in the semi-finals becoming the fifth man in the Open Era to reach this milestone.

Novak Djokovic, regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, has been in the headlines for various reasons but the latest being his uncertainty in his participation in the final Grand Slam of the year. He is still hopeful that he deserves a chance to play since he was allowed to participate last year. Much more to the struggle, his name was also excluded from the list of players playing at an exhibition event just ahead of the US Open. Fans expressed their disappointment in finding the champion’s name in the star-studded list and even urged the authorities to make a decision in his favor.
