“What insane level; Crazy rise”- Twitter goes berserk as Holger Rune ends Felix Auger-Aliassime’s 16-match winning streak at the 2022 Paris Masters

Holger Rune
Danish Wonder Kid Holger Rune has been making all the right noises recently as he won the 4th consecutive battle against one of the top 10 players in the 2022 Paris Masters tournament. The semi-final victory against Canadian World No.8 Felix Auger Aliassime (6-4,6-2) is the best of all since the latter was on a 16-match winning streak, including a victory over World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz.
Rune’s current form is already making rounds on the internet with Twitter viewers chiming in to provide their take on his current gameplay. He had one of the toughest draws in the Paris Masters against 3-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka. This was certainly one of the tightest matches he had to deal with, as he was merely one point away from losing in the first round of the tournament without winning a set. He had to save two match points trailing 15-40 4-5 in the second set.
The second-round victory was against Polish World No.10 Hubert Hurkacz, then came Russian World No.9 Andrey Rublev in the third round. His quarter-final victory was against the Spanish World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz, which again defied the odds.
As expected, the kid’s master class overwhelmed Tennis Twitter as the upcoming final against none other than tennis legend, Novak Djokovic is everything fans are waiting for. To put it simply, it’s safe to say that it is a battle of the generations. It is immensely unbelievable that another young gun apart from Carlos Alcaraz is battling against a guy who is almost double his age in 2022.
In a year where another teenager Carlos Alcaraz battled against Spanish 22-time-Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal in the initial months, we have a similar match-up in place now.
Future Big 4- The 2K Kids

The ‘kids’ born after the 2000s have been taking tennis to the next level as evidenced by the recent performances of young guns like Carlos Alcaraz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Italian World No.12 Jannik Sinner, and Holger Rune. Alcaraz has already won his maiden Grand Slam with his incredible US Open 2022 run.
Sinner vs Alcaraz US open 2022 Quarter Finals was one of the most thrilling matches ever in the history of tennis as the youngsters battled out for a whopping 5 hours and 18 mins with animalistic rallies, reminding us of the Rafael Nadal– Novak Djokovic iconic rivalry on the court. These two have played 4 times against each other and have 2 wins apiece. Apart from the US Open encounter, the pair battled out earlier in Wimbledon 2022 R16, where the Italian came out on top in 4 sets.
Felix vs Alcaraz has never played in a Grand Slam match. They have played thrice in the best of 3 sets and the Canadian Won all 3 of them. Felix also has a 100% winning record against Sinner – they have played twice but never in a Grand Slam match.
Holger Rune is having a 1-1 head-to-head against Alcaraz. Their first meeting was in the next-gen finals last year when the Spaniard survived. Rune leads the head 2 head against Sinner 1-0 but trails against Felix 0-1. He hasn’t played any of them in Grand Slam yet.
22-year-old Felix, 19-year-olds Alcaraz, Rune, and 21-year-old Sinner have already been fighting for the top prizes in tennis consistently. The Tennis world is looking forward to more such epic encounters. Adding 20-year-old Lorenzo Musetti, who is currently ranked number 23 into the equation, the future of tennis is here already.
