Elena Rybakina talked about the Rome Open in a recent pre-tournament interview. Elena the reigning champion at Wimbledon. When asked about what she thinks of the tournament Elena Rybakinais replied by calling it beautiful. She praised the tournament for having an amazing atmosphere and audience. She was also quick to point out that it is unlucky that she is having some allergies.
Elena Rybakina spoke about previously exploring Rome once and visiting all the popular places. Elena Rybakina also seems to love the food in Rome. Elena Rybakina was also asked about being one of the ‘Big 3’ along with Iga Świątek and Aryna Sabalenka. Elena Rybakina spoke about having a great beginning to the year but her back problems hindered her preparations for clay.
Elena Rybakina thinks that if she is fully fit and keeps working hard with her team, she could keep up the good results. The interviewer put forward the topic of Elena not being comfortable with clay but she insisted that it depended on the preparation.
She admitted that she might need more time on clay than some other players. Elena Rybakina said that being tall makes it hard for her to move on clay and she would prefer something faster. Her experience and training could definitely make up for it.
The interview concluded with a bit of talk about the French Open. Elena wants to have some good matches in Rome which would help her prepare better for the Roland Garros. She is confident that with time and practice her prowess on clay will definitely improve.
