Caroline Wozniacki has played some really good tennis ever since she returned on the tour. The 33-year-old Dane took part in the Canada Open as well as in the Cincinnati Masters. Although she could not go deep in those two tournaments, Wozniacki used them to prepare for the US Open and it seems to be paying off really well. The Dane defeated Tatiana Prozorova in her opening-round match in straight sets (6-3, 6-2). Wozniacki then took down 11th seed Petra Kvitova in straight sets (7-5, 7-6).

On the other hand, Jennifer Brady won her opening-round match against Kimberly Birrell in straight sets. The American took down her Australian opponent in an hour and 54 minutes as Brady won the match 6-3, 7-6 (7-4). The American then faced 24th seed Magda Linette in her second-round match. Brady took the opening set 6-1. However, she conceded the second set 2-6. But the American was quick to redeem herself as Brady took the final set 6-2.

She will now face Caroline Wozniacki in her third-round match. It will be interesting to see if Brady can match the two-time finalists level.
