Tiafoe had a comfortable victory over his opponent Rinky Hijikata in the 4th round, winning in straight sets. Shelton defeated countryman Tommy Paul to advance to the round of 16 of this tournament.

Tiafoe’s previous round was a rather easy one, winning it in straight sets. The World No.10 has only dropped one set in his only challenging match in the tournament so far which was against Adrian Mannarino in the third round. This will be his third major quarter-finals appearance in his career.

Ben Shelton escaped a potential hurdle in the second round when former US Open Champion Dominic Thiem handed over a walkover to the American after the first set ended in a close tiebreak with Shelton prevailing by a small margin. In all of the other rounds, he has dropped one set.
