Defending champion Iga Swiatek had a terrific outing in her first-round match at the 2023 US Open as the Pole defeated Sweden’s Rebecca Peterson in straight sets. Swiatek wrapped up the game in just 58 minutes, winning the match 6-0, 6-1. The Pole was hardly troubled by the Swedish player. Now, she would look to replicate the same level of performance in her second-round match against Daria Saville.

The Australian also won her first-round match emphatically as Daria defeated Clervie Ngounoue in straight sets. Saville took the game 6-0, 6-2 in an hour and 13 minutes. The Australian has performed decently this year as Daria progressed to the quarterfinals in Barranquilla Open 2023. While she bowed out in the opening round of The Championships, Daria had reached the semifinals of the Hamburg Open.
