Pegula had a tricky match against World No. 26, who took the second set from the American. However, Pegula was quick to bounce back and defeated Svitolina 6-4, 4, 6, 6-2 to enter the 4th round. Her previous matches did not prove to be much of a hurdle for her on this journey.

Keys also had a tough match in her previous round against World No. 14, L. Samsonova, losing the opening set to her. The next two sets were complete dominance by the American, who won the match 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 to continue her run at the US Open.

The duo previously faced off at the San Diego Open in 2022, where Pegula won in straight sets and led the head-to-head with a 1-0 win over the fellow American.

Both of them played a three-set match in their previous rounds, and with the crowd’s support split equally among both players, it will be a tough challenge for either to emerge. Pegula has been very consistent recently, and she is expected to win this round in three sets.
