Vondrousova defeated Peyton Stearns in a 3-set match while Keys won against World No.3 and fellow American, Jessica Pegula in straight sets to reach this stage of the tournament.

After a tough match, Vondrousova stated, “She was playing great from the beginning, and I just tried to stay in the game.” She appreciated her opponent Stearns and was happy to reach this stage in the Open after winning Wimbledon this year as well.

9th seed Vondrousova got out of a pretty tricky match against impressive Peyton Stearns in the 4th round, losing the opening set to the American. However, she later fought back hard and dominated to win the match 7(7)-6(3), 6-3, 6-2. This was the first set she lost in this tournament so far.

Madison Keys also had a rather comfortable journey in this tournament losing just one set in the 3rd round against Liudmila Samsonova. With her win in the 4th round, Keys returned to the quarter-finals after five long years.
