The 36-year-old-year-old is in exceptional form despite being absent from the tournament for two consecutive years. The most memorable match that the Serb clashed in was definitely his thrilling final round at the Cincinnati Open in Ohio a couple of weeks prior. Tennis fans watched in awe as the Serb beat top seed Carlos Alcaraz over three sets. 

Djokovic appeared to be in great form as ever and defeated his opponent, scoring 5-7, 7-6, 7-6. He has come out on top in the last two rounds of the ongoing US Open as well, defeating both his opponents in straight sets of three.

On the other hand, he has also performed great in the tournament so far. He beat his second-round opponent, Hugo Gaston, with ease. The 28-year-old has won both rounds with straight-set victories as well. The World No. 2 has a worthy opponent in the fellow 28-year-old for the third round of the tournament. The clash between the two would make for an interesting watch. The 38th seed can challenge Djokovic in the upcoming match on Friday.
