Korda made a remarkable start to the season; unfortunately, the American sustained an injury that made him withdraw from the subsequent matches. He started 2023 by becoming the runner-up at the Adeliade International 1, where he lost the title to Novak Djokovic. The 23-year-old then went on to earn a place at the Australian Open but had to forfeit the match due to his injury. He made his comeback in the clay season with the French Open but had to exit in the second round. He also crashed out of Wimbledon in the first round itself. The injury is clearly still affecting him.

Fucsovics, on the other hand, hasn’t had a very impressive run so far either. His best result was the Boss Open in Stuttgart, where he defeated World No. 9 Taylor Fritz to secure a place in the semi-finals. The 31-year-old then went on to lose against Korda 7-6(5), 6-3 at the Winston-Salem Open in the second round.

As we witnessed in their last encounter, Korda has the upper hand. He has a stronger service game and a more aggressive laying style. Fucsovics will have to review his mistakes from the past match and improve on them.

Also, Fucsovics does not have a great record at the U.S. Open. He has only had three wins in his seven appearances on the surface. If the 23-year-old star has completely recovered and is physically fit, he will likely be the champion of this match.
