The Greek player earned his place in the second round by defeating fellow Grand Slam finalist Milos Raonic in the first round. Initially, it took him some time to hold his ground. He had to defend some major break points in the opening set. However, when he got the lay of the land, it was smooth sailing for him. He won in straight sets with a scoreline of 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.

On the other hand, Stricker battled through the qualifying rounds to become eligible to play in the first round of the tournament. He played Alexei Popyrin in the first round. The match started with Stricker dominating. He secured some early breaks and held onto his lead. However, Popyrin came out stronger in the third set to keep the game alive. It didn’t matter, though, as Stricker took a 5-0 lead in the 4^th set. He conceded three games but ultimately won the match with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 3-6,6-3.

Striker played quite well for his debut appearance at the US Open. Though he made 29 unforced errors, he made up for them by winning 80% of his serves. Tsitsipas was in great form as he defended himself against a challenging opponent. They have met only once before, where Tsitsipas had won during the encounter.

Tsitsipas has more experience than the 21-year-old in terms of tournaments and wins. Stricker has only played 15 main draw matches, while Tsitsipas has more victories just this season. We can’t count Stricker out just yet. He may be able to give the Greeks a hard time with his attacking nature. However, if the World No. 7 is in his form, he will most likely win.
