US Open under a lot of criticism as rules are ‘bent’ just for Serena Williams during her match against Ajla Tomljanovic
Serena Williams and Ajla Tomljanovic
Serena Williams, the 40-year-old American professional has finally retired from professionally playing tennis. After competing at the ongoing US Open where Serena had a fantastic run for someone who has barely played all season, the GOAT of female tennis never seems to catch the tennis world off guard.
Widely considered as the greatest female tennis player of all time, Serena Williams is hugely credited with revolutionizing the sport for generations of female players as well. With 23 grand slam titles to her name, there are many stars in the WTA currently who look up to Serena as their source of inspiration.
US Open faces a lot of as Serena Williams’ montages are deemed disrespectful
Serena started off the US Open in fantastic fashion, she won the first two rounds of the tournament against Danka Kovinic and Anett Kontaveit respectively, Serena faced off against Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round where she was bested by her and finally pulled the curtains on an illustrious career.
The highlight after the game was the US Open getting a lot of heat for displaying the montage that goes through the highlight of Serena’s amazing career and despite that being a great gesture to celebrate an amazing career, it has been deemed disrespectful by many across the globe.
Ajla Tomljanovic is not too fond of the montage that is displayed before the game starts, she said, “I already know who she is, “I don’t want to get reminded everything she’s done in the sport,” it also seems like the rules have been bent just for Serena Williams as it is in the US Open rules that the lower ranked player (Serena in this case) to walk out first in the match but that seems to not be the case as this is her farewell tournament, Williams comes out to play second in every match that she competed in.
Ajla Tomljanovic fought past Williams and a very tough coward as she successfully made her way into the round of 16 fixture of the tournament where she will be facing Ludmilla Samsonova.
