Seven-time singles Grand Slam title winner Venus Williams has nothing left to prove to the world anymore, and currently aged 43, it is only a matter of time until the legendary tennis star finally bids the sport goodbye. Until then, she is still going strong, trying to keep her body in the best condition, and recently she made a visit to Rafael Nadal‘s tennis academy in Mallorca.
Media outlet Movistar, which sponsors Rafa’s academy, recently posted a picture of Venus Williams having a practice session at the academy on Twitter. With the US-based star sharing a great relationship with Nadal, she must be looking to increase her endurance and physicality ahead of the US Open, which starts in two months’ time.
Venus has been way past her prime now, and it’s simply sensational how well she has maintained her body to still keep going at the top level. This month, at the Wimbledon Championships, she didn’t have a good tournament at all, getting knocked out right in the first round against wildcard entry Elina Svitolina in straight sets. With the Canadian Open just a week away from getting started, it’s a no-brainer that Venus was here at the academy preparing herself for the best.
Will Venus play her last Slam at the US Open this year?
Approaching 44, Venus will soon hang up her racquets and kitbags, bidding the sport a final goodbye, but her fans all around the world still want her to finish off on a high. With her home tournament kicking off in two months’ time, she would be adamant to participate in the US Open in any way, putting on a show for the fans she has been entertaining for three decades now.
She is a once-in-a-generation player who has nothing left to win and nothing left to prove in the world of tennis. But still, she manages to get out of bed every day, keeping her hunger alive. Accepting the bitter truth that she won’t be able to win any more competitions at this age, even if she doesn’t manage to play the US Open, the world wants her to end her illustrious career on a high.
