Andrey Rublev recently won the 2023 UTS Frankfurt Showdown by defeating Grigor Dimitrov 3-1 in the final. His campaign in the tournament was pretty neat. Previously, the Russian defeated French international Benoit Paire in the semifinals and then went on to seal things in the final against Dimitrov. The UTS Frankfurt trophy is shaped like a lightning bolt, and it is hands down one of the coolest tennis trophies out there.

After winning the tournament, Rublev posed by holding the lightning trophy above his head and the picture has gone viral on social media. Fans are calling it one of the ‘coldest pictures’ of the year and even Belarusian player Victoria Azarenka is in awe of Rublev’s picture with the UTS Frankfurt trophy. She commented about the same thing through her Twitter account.

“I think this is probably the best and coolest photo I ever seen with the trophy. Wow,” Azarenka wrote in her tweet. Azarenka has been seemingly following the 2023 UTS Frankfurt very closely, as before this she also retweeted a video of Casper Ruud from the tournament. She is also known to comment on everything tennis-related to her Twitter account, so this was not an anomaly.

Talking about Andrey Rublev, this was a much deserved trophy for the Russian. He has been in incredible form lately but has been unable to win any silverware for a long time due to the intense competition at this point. Recently, he reached the quarterfinals of the US Open, where he lost to fellow Russian Daniil Medvedev

Andrey Rublev identifies his weaker areas after 9th straight defeat in Grand Slam quarterfinals

Rublev has suffered back-to-back defeats in nine Grand Slam quarterfinals, which is not a record that the Russian will be proud of. “Of course I would like to go further, to try to be in the semi-finals, but of four Grand Slams, three-quarter finals is the best I did,” Rublev said, talking about the same. (H/t: Tennismajors)

However, the 25-year-old has also said that these defeats have finally helped him identify his weaknesses. Rublev said that he has to work on his physicality and pace as, according to him, all the other Top 10 players in the world are probably faster than him on the court.
