On Monday, May 16th, Dominic Thiem of Austria faced qualifier Marco Cecchinato of Italy in the Round of 32. After returning from a right wrist injury, Dominic Thiem did not have a good start. His ranking slipped to 162 after almost seven months of rest. Thiem returned to the court from the clay, but he witnessed all three losses. He has now competed in three tournaments this year, all of which he has lost in the first round. After returning to the court, he has yet to win a set. His performance in the previous match was particularly spectacular. Thiem was only broken one set in the first set by Fabio Fognini, and he played just as well as Fabio to force a tiebreak.

When it comes to his opponent, Marco Cecchinato, an Italian qualifier, advanced to the first round without losing a single set so far. He did not, however, win any of the matches he played. The 29-year-old has three career titles, all of which he has won on clay. Even though his win/loss ratio is far too low, he still managed to win three crowns out of 63 games and demonstrate his worth.
