The No. 1 seed, Rafael Nadal, had undergone a strange incident in his first match of the Australian Open. The Spaniard was leading the first set 4-3 against Jack Draper when he observed that one of his racquets was missing. This hilarious moment occurred during the match when a ball boy took one of the racquets of the tennis great. 

For context, the incident happened during the break in between games, and Rafa had a little laugh about it. He then went on to the umpire and explained the situation to him. Later, he walked to Jack and told him the situation. However, he was ok with the incident and took out a new racquet immediately.

Further information on the lost racquet is not known, and the match continued as usual. Overall, the crowd, as well as the umpire, laughed about the incident. This kind of experience is new for the top seed. Such an incident had never happened in his career, and it is a funny one to add to his career. Fans had a funny reaction to this one on Twitter as one of them said it was “Djoker in disguise,” indicating it was Novak Djokovic‘s plan.

Not an easy first round for Rafael Nadal

The defending champion will not have an easy first round in the Australian Open 2023, as predicted by experts. Rafael Nadal is fighting hard for every point, and currently, he is leading two sets to one against Jack. After a comfortable first-set win, Rafael Nadal had a tougher second set. Jack broke his serve twice in the second set and went on to win the set 6-2 comfortably. 

The Spaniard did come back in the third set, and the match is definitely an interesting one so far. The young Jack Draper is giving his all on the court, with 11 aces in the first three sets compared to Rafa’s four aces. The match had already gone past the three-hour mark with a minimum of one set to play. Fans are delighted to have their favorite player back in action after witnessing a tight first round.
