Daniil Medvedev, the one-time Grand Slam champion is on cloud nine after becoming a father for the very first time. He was ecstatic as he welcomed a baby girl on the 14th of October. He had shared the good news on his social media account with a picture of the newborn baby. But they are yet to announce the name of the baby girl.

Medvedev, the former world number one has had a fair share of ups and downs with making it to the finals of the Australian Open. He has managed to win only one ATP singles title in the year at the Los Cabos Open. He couldn’t even defend his title at the US Open losing in the fourth round.

The 2021 US Open champion opens up on his emotions and feelings after embracing fatherhood for the very first time while talking about it to Tennis TV. He stated that experiencing a plethora of positive emotions and realizing the positive changes.

He spoke about “Lots of emotions. I thought I was not able to feel. I was not able to feel at this calibre because I am quite a cold person, and then I felt so many good emotions that ‘wow, I’m a sensible person. I can be a sensitive person ‘. Lots of calm. Lots of good feelings.

Daniil Medvedev made a shocking withdrawal from the semi-final match at the Astana Open citing an injury

The Russian will next play at the 2022 Vienna Open where he will face Nikoloz Basilashvili in the first round. This will be his first match after the shocking exit in the semi-finals of the Astana Open. He was playing against the 21-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic when he decided to withdraw mid-way through the match.

Medvedev talked about his sudden withdrawal while aiming for his 15th ATP title. He had felt some niggle and hence made the decision to avoid any further complications. He did not wish to hamper his upcoming tournaments and even accepted the fact that he isn’t in the right frame of mind and even would not be in the fittest of his health.
