The 2023 Australian Open is yet to disappoint, with thrilling encounters every day the tournament has everyone on their toes. Yet again, the match-up between Canadian professional Felix Auger-Aliassime and Alex Molcan was one to remember for the fans. Yet another five-setter, there was a lot of drama involved in the match-up.
In the fifth set, both the players battled to take away the victory, when Alex Molcan failed to return Aliassime’s shot. In the third game of the fifth set, Molcan gave away a simple return by Aliassime and was unable to hide his frustration.
Alex Molcan smashed his racquet as he gave the chance to Aliassime to clinch the game and move closer to a thrilling victory. The Slovak professional was visibly frustrated after struggling against Aliassime. He had a good start to the match as he captured the first two sets but Aliassime got back into his groove soon after and clinched the victory.

Flexi Auger-Aliassime managed to survive the second round of the 2023 Australian Open. After dropping the first two sets, the Canadian professional managed to make a thrilling comeback that sees him progress further into the first Grand Slam of the season. The Canadian was ecstatic after his insane victory against Alex Molcan.
In his on-court interview, Aliassime said, “I had belief in myself after winning the third set. I had come back before and I felt I could do it again. But boy, it was a difficult day, at some point I was just trying to spend a little bit more time on the court in front of you guys.“
Aliassime’s next-round opponent is yet to be decided, but by the look of things it promises to be another cracker of an encounter. The Canadian professional will next face the winner of a match between No. 28 seed Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina and Corentin Moutet of France.
