Andrey Rublev broke down in tears

Andrey Rublev, the 24-year-old Russian professional has cemented his position as one of the best players on tour currently, ranked world number 11, Rublev has been struggling for form in recent times, for most of his North American swing, Andrey Rublev has faced early defeats in most tournaments he has played in.

The Russian managed to reach the semi-finals of the Citi Open where he was eliminated by Yoshihito Nishioka, he faced a first-round defeat at the Canadian Open and he was eliminated in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters event. Rublev managed to reach the quarter-finals of the ongoing US Open as well.

Having competed at the ongoing US Open, Andrey Rublev looked to be in fantastic form as she geared up to compete in the final major tournament of the season, the Russian professional managed to reach the quarter-finals of the event as he faced Laslo Dere in the first round, Kwon Soon-woo in the second round, Denis Shapovalov in the third round and Cameron Norrie in the round of 16.

He faced man in form, Frances Tiafoe in the quarter-finals of the tournament and that is where his dream of going all the way came to an end as Tiafoe beat Rublev in straight sets and eliminated him from the tournament. The highlight of the match, however, was Andrey Rublev breaking down in tears in the third set when his elimination from the tournament became ever so apparent.

Fans took to Twitter to sympathize with the Russian as he finally bowed out of the US Open, Rublev was unable to hide his disappointment and broke down crying after losing a decisive serve. The Russian is now 0-6 in the last eight stages of a grand slam tournament.

Frances Tiafoe has the world at his feet currently as he has become the first American male in 16 year to reach the semi-final stages of the US Open.
