Fans have always played a key role in the world of sports. The love they shower on an athlete is out of this world. Andrey Rublev, the Russian youngster who is currently World Number 5 has started his Shanghai Open run with a dominating win against the Italian Quentin Halys. In the post-match interview, fans got to see a new, shy side of the 25-year-old as the interviewer dwells into the likes of the Russian.

Prior to his match, Andrey Rublev received a few gifts from fans. The interviewer who saw this questioned him about it. Rublev hilariously tried to avoid the question by acting dumb.“I don’t know,” the Russian hilariously said.“You know, to look into bags of other guys is not nice,” said the Russian jokingly when the interviewer questioned him about the CD that a fan had gifted. The Russian continues to explain his love for the band Linkin Park.

“Just because I like Linkin Park and that’s why. There is no story behind it” said Rublev, shrugging. The 25-year-old now faces the Italian Adrian Mannarino in his second match of the tournament. He also will play his first doubles match before the singles game and will hope to do well in both formats of the game.

Andrey Rublev reveals why he has a CD player when questioned about it

After Rublev’s dominant win against Halys, the interviewer took a dip into the life of the youngster during the post-match talk. The interviewers questioned the Russian about the gifts he had received from the fans and as a response, the 25-year-old replied with a playful demeanor. “I mean I can play music on my iPhone but still it’s nice to have a CD,” said Rublev when the interviewer asked him about the CD player.

The Russian also received various gifts in the form of toys, stickers, and various gifts with his face on it. This shows the beautiful relationship the fans share with the player. Rublev’s unexpected way of responding not only entertained the fans but also showcased the lighter side of a player who is often seen as intense and focused during matches. The interview reminded us that even world-class players like Rublev have hidden facts waiting to be explored.
