Britain’s Andy Murray defeated Switzerland’s Leandro Reidi in his first match of the 2023 Davis Cup Final Group Stage and with this, Switzerland are not 1-0 up in the match. After the match, the Brit revealed that he had to miss his grandmother’s funeral to attend the match against Reidi. He was clearly emotional and even choked down during his interview.
“Today is a tough day for me, it’s actually my grandmother’s funeral today and… sorry. I am sorry to my family that I’m not able to be there, but gran, that was for you,” said Andy Murray. He defeated Leandro Reidi 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets and was clearly dominating the match from the very beginning and he ended up winning the match pretty easily.
Andy Murray’s form has been very confusing lately. His first-round exit in the US Open against Corentin Moutet was pretty shocking. Before that, he gave a pretty solid performance in the Wimbledon Open second round against Stefanos Tsitsipas but sadly lost. His performance in the Citi Open and Canadian Open was pretty decent as he reached the Round of 16 in both.
The second tie of the Davis Cup match between Great Britain and Switzerland, i.e., the tie between Stan Wawrinka and Cameron Norrie is currently going on. Andy Murray’s win has already given the Brits a great lead.
Andy Murray predicts Novak Djokovic will not stop at 24 Grand Slams

Andy Murray has predicted after Novak Djokovic’s 24th Grand Slam win in the 2023 US Open that he will not be stopping for just this. Even after the 2023 Wimbledon Open, Andy Murray had said that Djokovic looks hungry for more and that was proven to be true in the US Open.
“It’s up to the young guys to be pushing Novak and looking to overtake him. It doesn’t look like that’s close to happening. I don’t think he’s going to stop at 24 titles, but you never know how long it will last,” he said. Novak Djokovic won his 4th US Open and 24th Grand Slam by defeating Daniil Medvedev in the final of the tournament.
