Casper Ruud made his place in the semi-finals of another Grand Slam event of the year. He cruised his way to the semi-finals at the 2022 US Open after having a comfortable win over the Italian Matteo Berrettini in straight sets to record his 43rd win of the season. He defeated the lucky loser Corentin Moutet, Tommy Paul, Tim van Rijthoven and Kyle Edmund in the previous rounds to continue his great form at the US Open.
He had a great season at the Canadian Open where he reached the semi-finals but lost to Hubert Hurkacz after defeating Felix Auger Aliassime in the quarter-finals. At the Cincinnati Open, Ruud had a shocking defeat against Ben Shelton in the second round. His game was exponentially witnessed this year when he reached the finals of the French Open and was defeated in the finals by the 22-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal.
The young Norwegian star is proving himself as one of the best upcoming players in the world with his consistent performances. Ruud is often called a clay court specialist by fans across the globe but the Norwegian is proving his haters wrong as he is putting in excellent performances at the ongoing US Open.

Ruud was broken twice during the opening set of the semi-final at the US Open but the Norwegian star keep his cool when the first set went into a tie-breaker. He set up an early 2-0 lead against Khachanov in the tie-breaker but the Russian equaled the score as 2-2. The game was going neck to neck with each player fighting to keep their services without letting it break.
The tie-breaker went on for around 32 minutes until Ruud finally closed the opening set in his favor with the final score of 7-6(7-5). Ruud wrapped up the first set with one of the longest rallies of the season which was a 55-shot rally. The whole Arthur Ashe stadium was in awe of the caliber and skill of both the players being displayed in the crucial semi-final clash.
Ruud will be having a higher chance of ending up as the world number one if he manages to win the US Open title and will be the first player from his country to achieve this feat. The winner of the semifinal match between Ruud and Khachanov will face the winner of the other semi-final match between Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe in the final clash for the title.
