Coco Gauff, the 18-year-old American professional is one of the biggest young talents in women’s tennis currently. Being one of the top players in the world, Gauff has been proving her position as one of the top prospects time and time again. She has once again proven her talent as she beat 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu in the second round of the 2023 Australian Open.

After the match. Gauff was ecstatic following her victory. She was quick to move past Raducanu as she defeated the Brit in straight sets, Gauff now progresses further into the tournament, but her opponent in round 3 is yet to be decided.

In her on-court interview, Gauff joked about embarrassing her dad on her TikTok account. Referring to a dance video she had posted before where she can be seen dancing with her parents. She said, “playing cards with my parents or embarrassing them on TikTok. I posted a video of them online and it got like a million views and basically, everyone was hating on my dad in the comments so I kind of felt bad, at the same time parents really do anything for their kids so I’m glad my dad took one for the team.

Facing Emma Raducanu in the second round of the Australian Open, Coco Gauff was able to comfortably dispatch the British professional in straight sets. Once again, it seems like the pressure of winning the USO at such a young age is still lingering in Raducanu’s head and that is visible in her performances.

After the match, Gauff opened up about her performance. She said, “Considering the circumstances, I can imagine both of us were nervous, this was a long-anticipated match-up basically since the draw came out, so I’m glad that it was a good match for you guys. I just told myself to hang in there and I was playing really good tennis towards the end of the match and, honestly, the whole match was great.

Now, Gauff will either will step up her pursuit of a first grand slam title against either China’s Zheng Qinwen or American compatriot Bernarda Pera in the third round. The American professional looks to be the favorite to go through and progress further.
