American teen tennis star, Coco Gauff played the semi-final round match against Czech professional player, Karolina Muchova at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Thursday. The two clashed on Wednesday night in a highly anticipated face-off. Former US Open champ, Naomi Osaka was there in the stands as well.

Coco Gauff made history recently by becoming the first American teen to reach the US Open semi-finals since Serena Williams. The 19-year-old successfully defeated Muchova to enter straight into the Finals, much like her idol Williams did back in 2001. Gauff defeated her opponent, 27-year-old Karolina Muchova, scoring 6-4, 7-5 against her in straight sets. Although the clash between the two was suspended in the beginning of the second set by Climate Change activists, the 30-minute delay did not cause the teenager to lose her form or focus. She played Muchova, maintaing her lead throughout the set.

Gauff defeated Muchova to storm into the finals of the US Open. However, the teenager was unaware of the presence of former World No. 1 and two times US Open title-holder, Naomi Osaka in the audience. In an on-court interview after her win, Gauff thanked Osaka for coming to witness her match. “I remember the moment we had on this court 3 years ago. It meant a lot to me,” Gauff said.
