The youngster showed tremendous tenacity and grit to perform so well in her first clay court tournament on the WTA tour. Emma Raducanu had a decent outing at the WTA Stuttgart Open
Emma Raducanu has had a very bumpy ride since emerging as a star by winning the US Open last year. She has struggled with injuries and has also faced a lot of criticism for not living up to the expectations of the fans and the infamous English media. But the teenage sensation despite all her achievements was still very inexperienced on tour and therefore she was bound to struggle.
She led the United Kingdom in her debut Billie Jean King Cup outing a few weeks ago as the Brits took on the Czech Republic in the qualifiers. Raducanu made her debut on clay with a splendid win over Tereza Martincova in a straight set win helping the United Kingdom gain some momentum. However, she struggled with foot blisters in her second game as she lost the match against former French Open finalist Marketa Vondrousova. Her foot blisters restricted her movement on the court as she suffered immense pain but still continued fighting.
But she was determined to play at the WTA Stuttgart Open so she battled a lot of pain to get ready and when the time came she delivered a decent performance considering her lack of experience on clay. Looking at her performances she would surely feature in more events as she prepares herself for the upcoming Roland Garros.
