Roger Federer

Roger Federer took to social media a few days ago to announce his retirement from professional tennis. He revealed that the upcoming Laver Cup in London will be his last tournament. The Laver Cup will begin on September 23 and will be held in the iconic O2 Arena in London. Federer has arrived in London for the same and naturally, all the limelight and media buzz is on him.

Federer was snapped at the London airport on a cozy Sunday evening with fans surrounding him. Given Federer’s legacy, the world will be seeing him throughout the week to capture Federer’s last moments on the court. The Swiss maestro underwent his third knee surgery last year after Wimbledon and it was assumed that he would return around Wimbledon this year.

But his recovery didn’t go according to plan. He delayed his comeback by a few weeks and after all considerations, it was initially decided that he would come back at the Laver Cup and then play the Swiss Indoors in Basel. Despite all the effort, his surgery wasn’t effective, and given his age, 41, it was almost impossible for him to play and compete at the highest level. And hence he made the tough call and announced his retirement.
