Top seed Novak Djokovic of Serbia won the Wimbledon 2022 final defeating Nick Kyrgios of Australia in four sets 4-6,6-3,6-4,7-6(7-3). The Serbian lost the first set but fought back brilliantly and won his 7th Wimbledon title, taking his tally to 21 singles Grand Slam titles, surpassing Roger Federer. This is his fourth Wimbledon title in a row.
It was indeed a very special day for the Serbian legend as it also marks his 8th wedding anniversary today. His wife, Jelena, who is his high-school sweetheart, was present at the match to watch him play and support him. The couple has two kids, Stefan who is seven years old and Tara, who is four years old. Jelena now works as the director of their charity, the Novak Djokovic Foundation which helps the children in Serbia to realize their dreams and improve their country’s education.
Novak Djokovic thanks Sue Barker for reminding
Djokovic and Jelena have been together for the past 17 years, out of which they are married for 8 years. Jelena shared some adorable moments to mark their 8th-anniversary milestone. Jelena is a constant presence in Novak’s box and is always there to support her husband during all his matches. She was beaming throughout to see her man winning yet another Wimbledon title. After winning the match, Djokovic went straight to his box to get congratulatory hugs from his team, family, wife and friends who all were present today to support him.
Post winning his Wimbledon final on Sunday, Sue Barker reminded him stating,” The dinner with Nick might have to wait as it’s your anniversary today. You will have other plans today“. Djokovic replied saying, “I will have to give you flowers after this. You keep reminding me big things. I will be in big trouble if I forget.” Novak later looked at Jelena and said, “So darling, happy Anniversary“. In the end, he pointed to the trophy in hand and said to his gorgeous wife “This is my present.”
