Juan Carlos Ferrero and Carlos Alcaraz
The sky is the limit for young Carlos Alcaraz and he is making every possible attempt to fathom his vast greatness. He completed his dream run at the 2022 US Open as he eased past Casper Ruud in the final in four sets 6-4,2-6,7-6(1),6-3 to win his maiden grand slam title. In the process, he became the 7th youngest man to win a major title and also the youngest since Rafael Nadal in 2005.
With this, he also becomes the second youngest US Open champion since Pete Sampras and has become the youngest man to become the World No.1 in the ATP Rankings at the age of 19. Given his tender age, it was natural for him to be overwhelmed with emotions. He couldn’t hold back his tears as soon as he converted the championship point and ran straight towards his box.
After a short climb up, he embraced the people in his box and celebrated his victory with them. And when it came to his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, he once again couldn’t hold back and cried his heart out while hugging him. The two share a very special bond and time and again, Alcaraz has reminded everyone what a special role Carlos Ferrero plays in his career.
‘Juan Carlos to me means everything’: Carlos Alcaraz

After his win, Alcaraz spoke about how important his coach is to him. He said that Juan Carlos is almost like his second father. The Spanish veteran, who himself is a major champion and a former World No.1, had the chance to coach many top players but instead decided to world with a young Alcaraz 3 years back and the results are for everyone to see.
“Thanks to him I’m lifting this trophy today. Juan Carlos to me is my second father. He could train a lot of top players but he decided to be with me at 16. Juan Carlos to me means everything,” Alcaraz said.
