Australian showman Nick Kyrgios continued his good run in the 2022 season going as he eased past Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi in the second round of the 2022 US Open. Kyrgios defeated Bonzi in four sets 7-6(3),6-4,4-6,6-4 to reach the third round and equal his best US Open result.

Kyrgios has finally found some consistency and is living up to his potential this season. After a decent start to the season, he made it to the final at Wimbledon- his maiden major final where he lost to Novak Djokovic. He then won his first title of the year in Washington and has a fairly decent North-American swing.

But just when everyone started to think that Kyrgios’ behavior has changed, he did something disgraceful during his second-round match at Flushing Meadows. Kyrgios was leading comfortably and took the opening two sets before Bonzi leveled up his game and challenged the Australian. In the tight third set, Kyrgios got broken toward the end and once again, couldn’t control his rage.

While changing ends and going to his chair after he got broken, Kyrgios spat toward his box and his actions were caught on camera. He was treated by a big sigh from the crowd and even the commentators, who were Kyrgios fans, condemned his shameful act. He yelled toward his box that they were not normal spectators and continued shouting at them.

Tennis fans on social media were disgusted by Kyrgios’ disgraceful act and called out this childish behavior. He received a code violation for inappropriate conduct but fans wanted a more harsh punishment for him.
