Stefanos Tsitsipas

World No. 7 Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated number 1 seed, Daniil Medvedev, 7-6(6), 3-6, 6-3, in an exhausting semifinal at the Western and Southern Open. Their rivalry has always been one for the talks. With Medvedev leading the head-to-head with seven wins over Tsitsipas’ three, the duo never fail to entertain during their matches.

Even though Medvedev has won most of their meetings, he did not have any replies for Tsitsipas’ serve and volley games. In addition to this Tsitsipas showed a tremendous first serve win percentage and dominated much of the last set. The first set was Tsitsipas trying to execute his strengths which eventually lead to him winning the set. Medvedev converted all three of his break points today but just wasn’t able to get the win.

After a thrilling three-set win over Medvedev, Tsitsipas looked over to his stand and did a little dance move which did not translate well on Twitter. Fans are taking over the comments section and expressing their views. Medvedev is one of his greatest opponents and since this was an important win for him, a little celebration was expected but Tsitsipas has got people talking.

Tsitsipas will be up against Croatia’s Borna Coric who’s in excellent form. Coric is coming into the finals with wins over Rafael Nadal, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Cameron Norrie. A tough battle awaits Tsitsipas in the final of the Cincinnati Masters.
