Iga Swiatek is the reigning Queen of Clay. She proved that she is worthy of that title after winning a thrilling 3 set French Open final against Karolina Muchova. The match that hung in balance for most of the 2nd and 3rd set was the toughest test for Swiatek in this French Open. Karolina Muchova ticket all the checkboxes of being a worthy finalist, as she played toe to toe with the Pole. Muchova really tested Swiatek’s limits by pushing her in eaxch and every game.
The suspense of the match was all consuming for the spectators and the players. It was crucial for Iga Swiatek to keep her nerve and play in a calm and composed manner. Eventually when Swiatek won the match and the championship, she let out all her emotions that she was trying to keep inside while playing Muchova. The nerves and intensity of the match finally melted away as the player just knelt down, in tears while covering her face.
Emotions overcame Iga in such a manner that instead of celebrating she rushed immediately to her team and parents to hug them. Only after she came back to the court she thanked the crowd for their support and celebrated. This was a final for the archives of French Open.

An amazing French Open final to remember between Iga Swiatek and Karolina Muchova

The final was just a thrill ride between the World No. 1 and World No. 43. Many might not have imagined Karolina to reach the final, and then play at such a high level. Karolina had answers to all of Iga’s different shot plays. Both players were setting each other up for shots. The match was bang on money, and what the spectators had hoped for from this final.
The 2022 final between Iga and Coco Gauff was completely an Iga Swiatek show with the the Pole winning very easily in 2 sets. This was a complete opposite of that one-sided match. One was not sure till the last minute who would take the trophy away. But the World No. 1 closed the match toward the end and to everyone’s delight lifted the trophy a third time in 4 years.
